Israel!!

I'm back!
It's hard to sum up the best month of your life into a blog entry, but I will try my hardest to keep it quick...but with a lot of pictures.


Basically, I am part of an Israeli Youth Movement called Hashomer Hatzair. This movement exists all around the world in over 15 countries. The North American part of the movement has a program for 15-16 year olds (people going into 11th grade) to travel around Israel for a month. This program has been taking place every year for 20 years or so. The kids are from two Hashomer Hatzair sleepover summer camps, one located in Canada, and one in America. There ended up being 33 of us in total, 21 Americans, 12 Canadians. The Americans and Canadians had only met once before, but within each group, everyone knew eachother very well, so it was like combining two big groups of friends to reach a common goal; touring Israel for a month and learning more about the movement.

Okay, okay. Lets get to the trip. Instead of telling the entire itinerary, I have chosen a few of the many (600) pictures I took while I was there and I will explain them. Then in my next entry I will show pictures of everything I bought and etc.

This is a view of Jerusalem from the other side of the Western Wall.

We went to this town called Sderot that was close enough to the Gaza strip that you could see the skyline of Gaza from a viewpoint. In that town they had bomb shelters everywhere because they get hit by at least one missile a day. These missiles hardly ever kill or injure people though because they generally miss populated areas, and there is a warning siren when one is coming.

These are pictures of a typical Israeli market. This particular one is in Tiberias, a city along the Kinneret (Sea of Gallilee). These markets are very very cheap! The exchange rate is 3.6 shekels for 1 american dollar, and you can get dresses for 25 shekels, which is basically 7-8 dollars. Jewelry was like 4 bangles for 5 shekels, 2 shekels for a ring, 10 for earrings, etc. They had a lot of Henna tattoos for 10 shekels each, and they last for 2 weeks. I got a Pikachu one on my ankle.
This is a view of an interesting Arab city where half of the city is in Israel, and the other half is in Palistine, which causes problems in the city.
This is a very bad blurry photo of my best friend Naomi and I in these dress-pants things (see next blog and I'll explain) that we got for 25 shekels.

This is me after hiking up Masada, (a 500meter hike but its very steep and over 100 degrees) an ancient fort with a view of the Dead Sea. I had to wake up at 4AM to hike it or else it would be too hot. It took only 40 minutes, but it was very tiring. I felt on top of the world when I got to the top, and we got to watch the sunrise!This is me being artistic, lol. I am the V. The design on the back of our shirts is the Hashomer Hatzair symbol.

Israel, here I come!

Hey guys...umm long time no blog? With studying for finals and packing, I am way too busy to do anything...and too lazy.

Basically, schools out, and summer is here! But I am going to be away with no internet access for 9 weeks. I am going to 4 weeks of sleepaway camp, and then I am going to Israel for 5 weeks! I am definately going to take tons of pictures and buy a lot of cool stuff there, and I am determined to bring back some Israeli fashion magazines.

The dress I am wearing in this picture is a tube dress I made in my sewing class. The pattern is like one of those hawaiian louau (sp?) shirts and so I added my seashell belt to make it more beachy. You like?

100 degrees? Heat wave!

Today it was 100 degrees. And to think there was a day last week when it was in the 50s! Global warming is becoming more real to me every day... =[

While many a child were suffering in the smoldering heat, I was sitting in nice air-conditioned classrooms. When I was in middle school, none of the classrooms had air conditioning. Most high-schools do. After pondering this, I came to the conclusion that high-schoolers are stinkier than 5th graders under intense heat (oh, hormones).

To the applause of many students, it was announced during last period today that we will have a half day tomorrow due to "extreme weather conditions". Like an anti-snow day? I guess the reason that it is a half day is because it doesn't get too hot until around noon anyways xP.

We are in the homestretch, people. Just 2 more weeks of hell until wonderful summer comes along!

The skirt that I am wearing in todays outfit was a hand-me-down I received when I went to France when I was 8 (half of my family lives there). Skirts like these are typical of the South of France, and they are very beautiful (and one-size-fits-all, so it still fits me!).

I GOT NEW SHOES!!! YAY!! Unfortunately I don't have good heel-walking skills so I can't wear them to school (I just put them on for the pictures xD). The are way too tall, haha. My first pair of real heels...its about time.

My outfit isn't too interesting today...I was in a simple mood so I chose simple clothes.

Its weird...I've noticed that many style/fashion bloggers have an interesting sense of humor in their blogs, such as Rumi or Belle. I am a really funny person...in person. But it is hard for me to be funny when I write. I am good at improv and stuff like that, but there isnt much of a way to get that into writing. Any suggestions on how I can make my blogs funnier?

COLORS and COWBOY BOOTS!!

Today I stayed home from school and was in my pajamas all day, remote in hand, watching crazy talk shows and soap operas. Fun. I do, however, have these photos from yesterdays outfit. They aren't very good photos because I was in a rush to head to the movies (I saw Sex in the City! THE CLOTHES WERE AMAMAMAMAMAZING).

I know, I know. I wear the same shoes like every day, blah blah blah. The problem is, I am very picky when it comes to shoes, and usually when I do find the right pair, they are too expensive (at least $60). I would buy shoes online, but past experiences have been frustrating and costly (shoes were too small/big/ugly-in-person, had to send them back, yadda yadda yadda).

Speaking of shoes, I bought these beautiful cowboy boots on Ebay a while back that ended up being too small and I couldn't return them. They are so pretty that I didn't want to give them away, and I almost chopped of my toes just so they would fit (exaggerations). Finally, I am ready to part with them and I just listed them on Ebay today, for $20. Its a really good price considering I bought them for $60 (crazy I know but at the time I was willing to blow all my money for them). Alexander Wang for Uniqlo

Oh. My. God.
One of my favorite designers, Alexander Wang, who had a steller show at New York Fashion Week for his Fall/Winter 08 collection has made a collection of 8 pieces for Uniqlo! The price range is $30-$100, and the Uniqlo in NYC began selling them on May 30th. If you dont live near the city, dont worry! Many people have already begun selling some of these clothes on Ebay!

Though it is still a little pricey, there is one dress in the collection priced at $40 that I am rather interested in splurging on. Belle, let me know if you are interested in taking a shopping trip to check it out =P

Also, while I was researching, I found that there is going to be an Alexander Wang Sample Sale in NYC on June 21-23. Obviously, it will still be ridiculously expensive, but I still think that it would be cool to go see the designs in person, take pictures, and maybe even try them on xP

Jumpsuits with heels..

Last weekend I was at a HUGE Forever21 in New Jersey and I bought this adorable denim romper (without trying it on; the line for the dressing room was ridiculous) for $30. When I got home and tried it on, not only was it too small (my torso is too long =[), but the friends who I was with said that I looked like a janitor. After lots of reasoning, I decided that I am going to part with the jumpsuit and return it as soon as I can...but first I had to get some pictures in it..hehe. It might not look too small on me in the pictures, but trust me; it is.

You have probably seen most of these pictures already on Belle's Blog, but thats because she TOOK them from me. Hehe. Its all good. She needs my photo skillz to live anyway and she knows it =D

As for my appointment at Elite, I think it went well. The director of casting seemed to really like me and complimented my coloring and said I was very cute. She said I was a bit on the short side to be a model, but I assured her that I was going to grow at least another inch within the year (as my doctor told me). They are going to call me in for some test photos with hair and makeup and if the come out well, they will add me to their 'New Faces' program. They will send my photos to clients and if I get a good response, I will get a contract! They said that the modeling will go very very very slow until I get a big break (if I get a big break), so I will keep you all updated =P

My outfit wasn't too interesting...I was prepared for athletics and lots of sun; though in the end I stayed in the shade and didn't play at all.

I took this lovely picture of Belle and her god damn dinosaurs.. they are so annoying! And she tried to make me carry them around in my bag all day.. HELL NO, BELLE!

I just wanted to STOMP all over them...so thats what I did =P

I am going to start posting more often again. Tomorrow is a new month...a month with lots of posting.

Me? A model?

I am very, very skinny. Almost freakishly skinny. I've been this way almost my entire life. It's in my genes; I have a very fast metabolism. I eat and eat and eat and hardly exercise, and I just stay skinny, underweight, and tall. You might be thinking 'Wow, she is so lucky!' This isn't really the case.

I am often mistaken for someone who is anorexic. People don't seem to understand that it is possible to be so tall and thin without doing anything, so they make things up. I am not anorexic, or bulimic or anything like that. It is actually quite the opposite. I eat sooo much, and hardly exercise.

For the past two years or so, I have also been mistaken for a model. Almost everywhere I go, people say, 'Wow, you should be a model!' or 'You look like a model!' Sometimes, I even get stopped on the streets and asked 'Are you a model??' Well, for the first time ever, there is a possibility that the answer will be yes.

On Sunday night I was at a Teen Club Night in New York City, where I was scouted by someone from Elite Model Management. I have an appointment this week!! They told me that I didn't need to bring anything, but I have a feeling that they are going to measure me, take polaroids, and ask me to walk, so I am practicing! I am really excited and nervous, but not very optimistic. I don't know if they will be able to work with my schedule. I am going to be away for almost the entire summer...and my parents are strong on my schoolwork, so I would have to be hired for times where I wouldn't have to miss a lot of school.

I don't really know what to think...good opportunities like this hardly ever happened to me, and I dont want to get my hopes up for something that potentially will disappoint me. I thought that in honor of this event, I will show you guys some photos in which I look 'model-esque'. Enjoy, and wish me luck! I will keep you all updated!

I know.
I have been a VERY bad blogger lately...its mostly been because the past few weeks I have:
A) Looked like shit...hairwise and fashionwise
B) Been very busy
C) Been angry at the bad weather

My room is such a mess that its hard for me to make good outfits xP. I am planning on cleaning it today....someone needs to slap me in the face and get me to stop procrastinating. Seriously.

Anyways, I plan on going shopping soon because there are few things I "need" (aka want) and I just got a paycheck so I have money :

• Shoes, shoes, shoes. Sandals and heels.
• Shorts
• Flowy skirts
• Basics; plain loose v-neck t-shirts, solid colored things
• WHITE DRESS.
• More tunic shirts
